Power Hour
Power Hour is an engaging homework help and tutoring program that instills a sense of personal responsibility for academic success. Staff and volunteers work with members to complete homework with some members receiving specialized tutoring in preparation for SOL testing. 97% of Club members progressed to the next grade level in 2013-2014.

Life Skills

Life Skills Training
Members ages 8 -12 are offered Life Skills Training weekly during the school year. More than 140 Germanna Community College nursing students provide the leadership in this effort.

Teen Summit
Each year the Boys & Girls Club, in partnership with local churches, volunteers, and civic organizations offers a day long summit for middle and high school students. Topics include self-image, bullying, gang prevention, teen pregnancy and diversity.

Youth of the Month/Year
Each month an adolescent Club member age 5 – 12 and a teen Club member, age 13 – 18 are recognized for outstanding participation, community service, teamwork and academic success. One member is selected as the Youth of the Year and competes with members from over 50 other Clubs in the Annual Youth of the Year Competition.

Passport to Manhood
This program is being offered to approximately 30 young men, age 12 – 14, each year. The program includes subjects such as male responsibility, relationships, substance abuse, conflict management, fatherhood and ethics. Young men are assigned a mentor and participate in field trips to colleges and educational activities.

This program is a health, fitness, prevention/education, and self-esteem enhancement program for girls ages 8 to 17. Girls are divided into adolescent and teen groups, each with program leaders and mentors.

Summer Programs

Summer Camp
The Boys & Girls Club of the Rappahannock Region offers an 8 week summer experience for area youth ages 5-16. Our camp is field trip driven, with travel out of the area at least once per week. Local camp days include swimming, movies, bowling, and roller skating.

Sports Clubs

Sports Clubs
The Boys & Girls Club partners with local sports organizations to offer our members the opportunity to play both recreational and competitive sports.

Keystone and Torch Clubs
Torch Clubs are charter small-group leadership and service clubs for boys and girls ages 11-13. A Torch Club is a powerful vehicle through which Club staff can help meet the special character development needs of younger adolescents at a critical stage in their development. Torch Club members learn to elect officers and work together to implement activities in four areas: service to Club and community, education, health and fitness and social recreation. Keystoning is the Boys & Girls Club Movement’s most dynamic teen program (age 14 – 16). It affords teens an opportunity to gain valuable leadership and service experience. They conduct activities in three areas: academic success, career exploration and community service.
